The Elios 3's powerful LiDAR sensor, when combined with the Surveying Package, offers a unique surveying tool that empowers users with the ability to collect data in extreme environments. The Surveying Package includes partner software FARO Connect which released a major update in May of 2025. We wanted to assess how this could improve the results achieved with the Elios 3.
In this whitepaper authored by Flyability, we compare the results of the Surveying Payload in multiple confined spaces, including bridge interiors and sewers of varying sizes. As environments become smaller and more symmetrical, we analyze how it affects the LiDAR payload's results. The contents of this whitepaper include a definition and comparison of accuracy versus precision before moving on to the tests.
