Flyability Announces New High-Capacity Batteries Amid Flight Optimization Push
Lausanne, 26 June 2025: Flyability, the market leader for confined space drone inspections, has announced today the launch of a new high-capacity battery for its flagship Elios 3 drone. This new battery is designed to give Elios 3 users up to 50% more flight time per charge. It is available for purchase from June 26th.
The Elios 3 drone is designed to fly in the most extreme environments, and Flyability’s new high-capacity battery empowers greater confidence and productivity in the field. Offering up to 50% more flight time per charge, the new battery enables pilots to cover more ground with fewer interruptions. The high-capacity battery offers 13 minutes and 30 seconds of flight time in a standard configuration (Elios 3 with Rev 6 LiDAR), compared to 9 minutes and 10 seconds before. In addition to the extended airtime, it delivers twice the number of recommended charge cycles compared to the standard battery, maximizing long-term value by combining longer missions with a significantly improved battery lifespan.
Flyability’s high-capacity battery reinforces the company’s commitment to flight optimization. This initiative began with the launch of Smart Return-to-Home, which uses onboard automation and a flight management gauge to guide the Elios 3 back to the home point via the shortest safe route. The software aspect of flight optimization is being further supported by the new Resume Inspection feature, launching in early July. After a battery swap, the Elios 3 will autonomously return to the exact point where Smart Return-to-Home was triggered, following the most efficient path to seamlessly continue the mission. This saves flight time, improves operational efficiency, and allows pilots to focus on what matters most—data collection, not battery or flight time management.
All Elios 3 payloads are compatible with the high-capacity battery; however, users should consult the user manual to understand how different payloads and environmental conditions may affect flight performance and control. There is a mandatory firmware upgrade required for users of the high-capacity battery to enable the Elios 3 to fly with the new unit. The high-capacity battery is being shown at select expositions and tradeshows by the Flyability team - please reach out to the Flyability team to find your nearest event.
